  • Alessandri Loranzo (1927-2000) was an Italian from Turin. Well known as a painter of grotesque surrealist art tackling issues such as mortality, political satire and sexuality. He studied under Giovanni Guarlotti, who refused to teach him the use of colour, but who instilled in him the dogma of the absolute priority of a flawless design for any figurative painting. In 1964 he launched the idea “Surfanta“ (Surrealism and Fantasy) and founded the homonymous magazine. He has held more than 43 personal exhibitions and participated in about 300 group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. His graphic works can be found in the Gallery of Modern Art in Turin, in the Royal Cabinet of Prints in Brussels, in the Museum of Italian Xylography in Carpi, in the Library of Yale University USA.
