Judy Chicago featuring one of the Birth Hood images which made her famous. These painted car hoods redeployed techniques the artist learnt as at auto-body school when she was one woman in a class of 250. The work appropriates a car hood - a symbol of machismo - while bringing female forms to feminise the masculine and establish some gender identity. Published by the Tate Gallery for their exhibition 'The World Goes Pop'.
