Dean & Son, estb 1800, were one of the best known publishers of children's books in the late 19th/early 20th Century.  They specialised in novelty books and were one of the first firms to introduce pop-up and animated books. Generally their books were meant to entertain rather than educate. in the mid 20th Century the firm published books by Enid Blyton and children's classics in the Dean's Classics series.
